Dear Friends:

Are you loving this devotion as much as we are?

What a lovely programme provided by Fr. Thaddeus Lancton and the Marians of the Immaculate Conception (National Shrine of the Divine Mercy).

We are thrilled to partake in Day 5 and will add our cycle to the above AUDIO to help anyone who wants to join in prayer but has no one to pray with them.

STEP 1: How should I pray?

To pray, you need a normal Rosary with five decades. You will “go around” the 50 Rosary beads twice to complete the 100 Requiem.

The name “Requiem” comes from the Latin prayer:

“requiem eternam dona eis, Domine”

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.

Step 2: To begin, pray a

  • Sign of the Cross

  • Our Father

  • Hail Mary,

  • Glory Be.

On the large bead (which would be the “Our Father”),

pray the following words (set up for 2 people

below for the public chorus style of prayer):

LEADER: Holy Souls, Suffering Souls, pray to God for us, as we intercede for you that He grant you the glory of Paradise.

RESPONSE: Eternal Father, I offer you the Blood, Passion, and Death of Jesus Christ, the Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin and of St. Joseph, for the remission of our sins, the freedom of the souls in Purgatory, and the conversion of sinners.

Then, pray a decade of Requiem (on the small beads, which would be the “Hail Mary”):

LEADER: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

RESPONSE: and fill their souls with splendour.

Step 3: After completing the 10 decades, the 100 Requiem, pray Psalm 130:

LEADER:

Out of the depths I call to you, Lord; Lord, hear my cry!

May your ears be attentive

to my cry for mercy.

If you, Lord, keep account of sins,

Lord, who can stand?

But with you is forgiveness

and so you are revered.

I wait for the Lord,

my soul waits

and I hope for his word.

My soul looks for the Lord

more than sentinels for daybreak.

More than sentinels for daybreak,

let Israel hope in the Lord,

For with the Lord is mercy,

with him is plenteous redemption

ST. DOMINIC, Pray for us.1

8 AUGUST, 2024 Video Spotlight from an apostle of the Rosary, the Founding Spiritual Director of the Rosary Hour Podcast. Remembering our time with Fr. Anthony Gramlich, MIC, a Dominican and Assistant Rector at the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy.

NOTES

1

ABOUT ST. DOMINIC:

OF this Saint, the Dominican Sisters explain:“Who is St. Dominic?

St Dominic de Guzman, the founder of the Dominican Order, was a man of remarkable character and broadness of vision. He had the deepest compassion for every sort of human suffering, and he saw the need to use all the resources of human learning in the service of Christ.

He was born to Jane of Aza and Felix de Guzman in c1173 in Caleruega, Spain. He died in Bologna, Italy, in 1221 and was canonised in July 1234.

St. Dominic’s regular companions on his journey were St. Matthew’s gospel and the letters of St. Paul.

He was in constant search of the truth about God and God’s presence. Wherever he went he showed himself in word and deed to be a man of the Gospel. During the day, no one was more community-minded or pleasant toward his brothers and associates. During the night hours, no one was more persistent in prayer.
